Hello reader, welcome to my little corner of the internet! I'm Glitch, the face (well, writer) behind this blog and I'm so happy you found your way here. What you'll find here is a mixture of ADHD hyper-focus hobbies, personal reflections and support for those of you who are struggling and maybe need a friendly stranger to talk to. Because at the end of the day, I'm just like you, navigating the ups and downs of working, studying, being a pet mum and overall trying to be a good person. I want to create a space where connections, experiences and inspiration are all shared and learned from together, a community. So get comfy, this is your invitation into my mind, into the glitch of my synapses.
So, first things first, why? What sparked interest in beginning a blog? Well, truthfully, I never gave it any thought at all until about a week ago when I was in a meeting with my head of HR. I wasn't in trouble don't worry, just a routine check in. Anyway, we were talking and the topic of dream jobs came up, I mentioned that if I could be anything, I would love to be an author, a dream I've had since I was about 12 years old. Chris, my HR head, looked at me and asked me why I didn't pursue it, why didn't I write? I laughed, I mean absurd right? I have no training in writing or English literature other than my high school class 10 years ago. My exact words were "there are so many people more talented than me, why should I even try?" and truth be told, as soon as the words left my mouth I regretted them.
Because I have spent so long telling my friends the exact opposite of that sentiment. It doesn't matter if others are better at something then you are, the point is to enjoy whatever you're doing, not compare yourself to others doing it. Chris, to his credit, didn't miss a beat. "What about blogging?" he asked, so non-nonchalantly, as if it was the obvious choice. Now I don't know about you, but blogging has never been on my radar, it's never even been a random thought in the static of my brain. But I thought about it for a few days and honestly, why not? Why shouldn't I try blogging? I had no answer to that, so here I am.
Beyond The Blog
In the non-digital world I'm based in sunny south-east Queensland, Australia. I work in healthcare and I'm studying part time to go into the mental health field, I have a beautiful cat who will turn 11 this year, I love to read with a cup of tea in my slippers, I have four tattoos and am currently working with an artist to design a sleeve based around mythology.
I'm planning on doing one blog a week but who knows if I'll be able to keep that up cause life has this habit of getting in the way of plans doesn't it? I'm hoping to have my first one up by the end of this week, my first series will be on the Greek Gods, a dive into the divine if you will. Hopefully my website will be up and working and you'll be able to leave comments and ask any questions you have via the little form at the bottom of the page, because I'd love to converse with you. This is the start of an exciting journey and I'm hopeful that in one way or another, I'll grow from it. And hey, maybe you will too.
